Taiba is an idyllic fishing village with around 2500 citizens and an every day life which has not changed for decennia. Some say hat Taiba is different than many other small towns on the beach of Brazil. It is famous for its festival of escargots in September.
Traditionally, Taiba has been a holyday place for wealthy people from Fortaleza. A large number of politicians and well-known business man have bought up large parts of the beach area and built there their weekend homes. The standard of properties in particular in the old town is very high. The town has various squares along the Main Street. In 2007 a new access was build on top of the dunes directly behind the beach. Taking this entry road gives the visitor even e better notion of the beauty of this place.
Taiba is about 1 hour drive from the international airport. The town has a good deal of restaurants and some shops. The nearest town with more attractions is Cumbuco on about a 30 minutes drive.
